How Tragedy Revealed Her Hidden Mediumship Powers

Grief, Trauma, and the Unfolding of Spiritual Gifts

I hope this message finds each of you so very well. I’m speaking to you from my studio in West Orange, New Jersey. I could not be more delighted to have the pleasure of interviewing Tami Pitetti Sanders, who is joining me from Downingtown, Pennsylvania. Tami’s extraordinary journey through loss, trauma, and transformation led her to uncover spiritual gifts she never knew she had. After the sudden passing of her family dog and beloved father, Tami found herself navigating a world that had shifted beneath her feet. In the rawness of grief, something remarkable emerged: a deep intuitive awareness and connection with spirit that would reshape her life and the lives of those she helps.

From surviving third-degree burns and meeting her husband in a burn center to confronting buried trauma and the unraveling of relationships that couldn’t hold space for her evolution, Tami’s story is one of resilience, healing, and rebirth. Those experiences led to her unique style of mediumship, reading photographs and channeling messages with astonishing clarity and compassion.

When Relationships Fall Away: The Spiritual Awakening Shift

I’m looking forward to asking Tami about the profound loss and emotional upheaval that awakened her spiritual gifts, as well as the relationships that fell away when they could no longer support her transformation. We’ll also talk about Tami’s unique style of mediumship, how she found the courage to share her gifts, the deeply personal signs her father continues to send from beyond, why it is important to heal from the inside out, and so much more. This conversation will surely illuminate why true healing begins within, and how that inner shift can ripple outward to change your life for the better.

Grief and Rebirth - Irene Weinberg | Tami Pitetti Sanders | Mediumship

Tami, a warm, heartfelt welcome to the show.

Thank you for having me.

It is such a pleasure. We should start by talking about your early years. Let’s have everyone find out why you were ignoring your inner voice. You didn’t even know you had an inner voice then. You were ignoring it. What led you to explore Reiki and meditation a year before your losses? That’s interesting. What were those first steps on your spiritual path?

Thanks again for having me.

You’re welcome.

Ignoring the Inner Voice: The First Steps of Her Spiritual Path

I was always intuitive, but I was busy with life and ignored the little nudges and signs I was receiving. I always had to have the TV on, or music on, or be planning things. I probably buried it. Working in hospitality first and then going to physical therapy, I would do intuitive things, looking back. I didn’t realize it at the time with patients. I felt like I always had healing hands. I always had to touch a patient where not a lot of other therapists would do that.

I guess I knew, but I didn’t think it was something I could expand on at the time because I was already doing other things. I don’t know what it was. It was probably listening, finally, that I’m like, “I’m going to go receive a Reiki treatment.” I was having some hip pain, and I Googled a place. It was called Intuitive Reiki. I liked that. In my first session with her, I saw visions for the first time.

They came into you.

I’m like, “What is happening here?” Finally, something gave me the strength to go within. I saw myself on a hospital gurney with oxygen, as if I was going to have surgery. After I woke up, what she does is she writes out each chakra what spirit told her. You sit down with her after. One of the things she said is, “I had spirit do surgery on you for your hip pain.”

That was the vision I saw. That was the first thing. I was like, “There’s something to this.” I had Reiki years prior, and I didn’t get anything out of it because I probably wasn’t in the right headspace, or maybe I didn’t believe in it. I was obsessed after that and kept receiving Reiki. I then decided to take Reiki I and start meditating in 2020.

You’ve got the gifts. You probably started getting messages and started being able to see things as you meditated, right?

Correct. I started to see a lot of colors, visions, people’s faces, people I knew, people I didn’t know, people that were alive, and people that had passed. I was like, “What is this?”

Destiny in Trauma: Meeting Her Husband in a Burn Center

What a gift. What kind of accident was it that brought you to a burn center?

In 1991, I was at a family party. I was standing next to the dessert table, and they had put a 30-cup sterling silver urn on the dessert table. I was standing with my sister. At the time, which was the ‘90s, I had a skort on with opaque pantyhose on. It was the worst thing to have on because, all of a sudden, I felt this incredible heat all the way down from my hip bone to my toes.

What happened was that the soldering melted on the legs of the urn, and it had caused the urn to melt and tip over. At the time, I thought somebody had bumped into the table. Everything happened so fast. My uncle came outta nowhere and was trying to pull down my skort, but it was buttoned. He pulled down my pantyhose, and I saw all my skin shed. I went into shock. I was 22 at the time. That was the beginning of a lot of crazy things. A lot of good came out of it, and a lot of not-so-good came out of it, but now I know all these years later it was supposed to happen.

First of all, it got you to your husband. We’ll talk about that in a minute. Also, you talk about a pivotal moment that cracked you open. Did that happen during this experience, or was it another time?

That’s part of my journey. I have always had the craziest things happen to me ever since I was a kid. I was accident-prone. Every time I’d go away, I’d come back with a broken bone or something.

Your mother and father must have been ecstatic at this trait of yours.

They were like, “There she goes.” My sister was the complete opposite. She never broke a bone. I was accident-prone. I was like a tomboy. It gave me the courage to go into physical therapy, which is what I always wanted to do. I did not have the grades in high school to do that, so that’s why I was working in hospitality. Once I decided to go to school for that, my last internship was at a burn center, which is how I met my husband.

That’s amazing.

Empathetic. The best therapists are ones who can relate. They went through it.

How Grief Unlocked Her Mediumship Powers

In a way, I liken that to the show because I’ve been through a tough time in my life. I’m able to relate to a lot of things that people talk about. Tell us how grief became the doorway into your intuitive and spiritual gifts.

When I was receiving Reiki with this intuitive Reiki person and, at the time, I had only done Reiki I, I started to have this feeling that something bad was going to happen. I couldn’t shake it. I specifically felt my father. This was during COVID. I saw the change, but nothing major. They were not doing the daily things that they always did. They were very active. I asked her if she had any feelings about that. She said his soul was preparing for that. I was like, “What?” I was expecting her to be like, “No.”

A week later, my seven-year-old dog got sick and ultimately passed away, so I thought she was wrong. That was April of 2021. I went on with life, thinking she was incorrect. The dog passed in my son’s arms and my arms, which was devastating. I was a recent empty nester. He was home for spring break. I’ve had a lot of losses. Working in therapy, I’ve seen a lot of people die, but this, I don’t know. We buried her out back. I started noticing little synchronicities out back, like a red cardinal would start coming right to where she was buried. When she was passing, we put her down on this bunny rabbit runner, because it was around Easter time. Bunny rabbits kept coming right to that spot.

Something triggered in me. We also always do family photos at the Jersey shore with my family. It was an off year, and I wanted to schedule them for that year. This was before I even had that feeling, but I must have known deep down. I scheduled the family photos for the beach. In August of 2021, a week later, my dad did not look right. My son had lunch with him and sent me a picture of them, and I did not like how my dad looked. I drove right to his house and brought him to the hospital. He never came home.

I bet you could see it, sense it, and know it. You knew that there was something going on with you.

Something was happening.

How did that lead to healing in any way, or is that much further down the line?

Much further down the line, yeah.

We’ll talk about that. I relate to relationships falling away when they can no longer support your transformation. It was a very settled world, and all of a sudden, these things are happening to you. Did believers or non-believers give you a hard time? Did you detach? I know that you had to separate out from certain people now that you’re on the spiritual journey. What did that look like for you?

I was always that friend who was a nurturer. I always put other people’s needs before mine, almost to a fault. I would always give. I would treat others how I like to be treated, and I learned through this journey that that’s not always how other people like things. It was a big learning experience for me. I thought the people who would’ve been there for me were not. Looking back, I can say they weren’t supposed to be anymore. These were friends that I thought were my forever friends. I was there for them when they lost their parent. I was very needy for the first time in my life because of grief, not because of an illness.

They weren’t used to that. They didn’t want to deal with that part of Tami.

I became a lot more introverted. I was the planner. I was always like, “What are we doing this weekend?” I would always entertain. I went within, and I had to be alone. I didn’t know what was happening. Like you, I went through some kind of spiritual awakening. I thank God that I was already meditating for over a year. I was starting to tune into my intuition and listening because my dad’s apparition came to me the day after he died.

Tell us about that.

He was in the hospital for about two weeks and went from 0 oxygen to needing 55 liters of oxygen. This man never complained. Even in the hospital, he didn’t complain. That’s when I saw that his soul was ready. He knew something was coming.

How did you see that? What did that look like to you? How did that feel?

The apparition? I was home for the first time in a while because I was staying at my mom’s a lot. I got a new dog. I sat out on my sofa and collapsed. She was sitting right next to me. I must have closed my eyes, because I heard her make a noise. I opened my eyes, and to the right of me, I saw this big, bright light in my dad’s face. I thought I was hallucinating. I never said anything to anybody. I went to see a medium a month later, and she said, “Your dad wants you to know that that was him that you saw,” exactly where I was at the exact time. I was like, “What?” I didn’t forget about it, but I thought I was seeing what I wanted to see.

What a validation for you, too.

He told me he came to me because I was the most open to that. He has been helping me on this journey ever since.

Husband’s Support and Undeniable Signs from Beyond

That’s marvelous. I can relate to that because my husband, Saul, is also working with me. I also want to talk about your husband. How did your husband handle these spiritual shifts and differences in you? You met him before all this had happened, right?

Reiki one

Now, all this is happening. You had a wonderful love story, and it helped you deal with some deeper emotional layers. Tell us about your hubby, how he handled it, and how it helped you.

He has been my number one fan or supporter, butin the beginning, he was like, “Okay.” I could take a photo of anything. I see my dad’s face in almost every photo. It could be my dog’s face or people I don’t know. He’d be like, “That’s the lens flare.” He would debate with me, and then I’d get all mad. Then, things started happening in our house, like our TV would go on in our bedroom in the middle of the night. I’d be telling him a story, and then all of a sudden, the smoke alarm would beep.

He says, “I’m here.”

Our light would flicker. Things were undeniable. Now, we just laugh. He saw my ups and downs. I get very drained of energy. I didn’t know how to ground myself or protect myself. He has been helping me through this. I had a goal a couple of years ago, because that medium was the only person who helped me and gave me peace. I said, “That’s what I want to do.” Everyone probably thought I was nuts.

People are like, “She wants to talk to dead people. What is that?”

They can’t talk back to me, so they’re my safest people. I know the key she gave me, and I wanted to do that for other people.

That’s beautiful. Medishiump does help with that. I can validate that fact, for sure.

I struggled with wanting to do it in a different way, but meeting him at the burn center and everything was all God’s plan.

It sounds like it was truly meant to be. Something happened on Facebook that inspired you to pursue mediumship as a calling. You’re saying to yourself, “I see how that helped me,” but didn’t you have something that happened on Facebook that cemented it for you?

I can’t remember specifically what it was. I don’t know if it was somebody I met through there.

You accepted your purpose, or you had an experience.

With one of my first podcasts, she reached out to me, and she goes, “I love your story.” You know how you can join different groups. It was a grief group. She approached me. It was about finding your joy. That’s how I heard about you. I did my first podcast, and I do not like public speaking at all, but it shed a layer. I was like, “I love doing this. I love telling my story.” It’s another way of helping people to see that when people pass, it’s horrible and awful because they’re physically not here, but they’re never gone.

When people pass, it's horrible. It's awful, because they're physically not here. But they're never gone. Share on X

That’s a humongous comfort. For me, it changed the whole equation to know that I’ll see him again, in my case, my husband, and that I still have work to do while I’m here. How did you learn to trust spirit? Was it because things kept coming true exactly as you were told, or was there something specific that happened?

I struggled with that a lot because I doubted everything I was getting. I was waiting to hear a different-sounding voice in my head. Some people do get that, where it sounds different. I went to a lot of different mentors, teachers, and courses. I read hundreds of books, and everything would say, “You’ll know when it’s spirit.” Still, it’s my own voice. It’s my own thoughts.

Once you tune in to feel what you’re feeling in your body on the right side or the left side, your thoughts are the communication or the ringing in your ear. I struggled with, “Is it a sphere guide? Is it somebody who passed?” I thought everyone was my dad. I was like, “This is my dad.” I started to ask for some very specific signs, and I would receive those specific signs. That was like, “I got it.”

That’s amazing. You started to trust it. I know you see him when you do readings. How does he continue to communicate with you in other ways? What a blessing.

Almost every day. I don’t even have to ask anymore. Things will show up when I need them the most. Forty-four is his number. I get 44 emails. My phone will be at 44%. I’ll see my cardinal right outside my door after I’m stressed about something. The timing is always right. I know what his presence feels like now after four years.

If you’re doing something, does he say to you, “This is a good way to go. Don’t do it this way,” or give you a clue to an insight that you normally wouldn’t have?

Yes. He never believed in this stuff when he was alive.

Neither did Saul.

“I never believed in that BS when I was alive, but I do now,” is something he would say, and I love it. He’s taking it from a different perspective. I’ll tune into him when I’m worried about one of my kids or anybody. I always know that he has our back. When something bad happens, I say, “Dad, you got this.” I know he is always there watching over my family, my mom, my sister, and our kids.

Reading Photographs: Discovering a Unique Mediumship Style

That’s marvelous. That’s wonderful. That’s such a comfort. Where other people have to go to talk to a medic to get that, you get it all on your own, which is fabulous. Tell us about how you discovered your unique style of mediumship. Everyone, I’ve experienced it. Tami was kind enough to give me a reading. I sent her some photographs. It was right on and helpful.

Tell us how you discovered your solid mediumship because I don’t know many psychics who do readings through photographs. You’re doing psychic readings that way. I know that because you did it for me, you can also help people remotely. They can send you things through the internet or whatever. Tell us about that.

I was trying to think of a way where I had a unique flair. With how I see things all the time in photos that other people do not, I said, “There has to be something to this.” I was stuck because of fear. I was like, “I have to take one more course. I have to get this confidence.” I would think about watching all these other mediums and psychics on television, and I’m like, “I don’t think I could do that in front of a crowd.”

I went to this healer through Zoom. She said, “Stop taking the courses. You already have the gift. Think of a unique way to bring it forward.” She did whatever healing to me. I was blocked. The next day, I looked at a photo for somebody, wrote it out, and here we are. I still doubted it until I heard back from that person, like, “How did you know this?”

Psychic and Medical Intuitive: Predicting Illness and Healing

You’re not only a medium where you get messages from the deceased’s loved ones, but you’re also psychic, so you can read the energy field and tell us what’s coming up, which is great. You have a third gift. You’re a medical intuitive or an intuitive healer. Could you share some illnesses and deaths you’ve predicted before those people got ill? It frightened you, but you got over it. You continue to work with your medical intuitive gift. That’s an amazing gift, also. Can you see someone and see what’s going on in their body?

It’s more of a feeling. It did scare me and freeze me for a little bit because I didn’t want to only hear the bad things. I first took these courses to enhance my therapy skills in addition to the Reiki I and II.

The therapy skills, meaning physical therapy?

Yes, when I was practicing. I always knew things anyway. With my dad, I had the feeling. With my mother-in-law, fifteen months before she was diagnosed, I wrote in my journal her name and metastatic colon cancer. Unfortunately, that’s exactly what she passed away fifteen months later. I encouraged her to go to the doctors, and she did.

I struggled with how to intervene, knowing that information, because how do you tell somebody that? I didn’t know if I was right. I don’t want to be right about that. I got away from that a little bit because I’d rather be able to find out what’s going on and then heal them. That’s my goal. It’s like, “Let’s heal you.” I was trying to think of a way to do all of my gifts combined as one. I’ve been focusing on the photo readings and trying to help people dealing with grief, but sometimes, in readings, there’s some medical stuff.

If you look at someone’s photograph, you’d probably get a hit.

I can tell how somebody died. Typically, I can feel that if something seems off, but not all the time. Not everybody wants to know that. Also, when I do, the people who are alive don’t want to hear.

Do you intuit if they want to know it or not? You’ve got the information. How do you know whether to tell them or not?

That’s why I ask, like, “Let me know if there’s anything specific you would like to know.” I’ve learned to ask that, as well as, “Is there anything you don’t want to know?”

Slowly, through doing this, you found the courage to share your gifts with the world, or did something specific happen for you?

It was the healer who gave me that, whether she unblocked me and/or gave me the words of confidence to get me to do it. That’s all I needed. I always doubt myself. I always have a fear of being wrong. I like to have validation. I like to know 150% that this is correct. It has been working.

That’s great. Let’s get your advice about some things. First of all, what are the first steps a person should take when grieving and/or sensing signs, but isn’t sure what to do with them? What is your advice about how to heal from grief now that you’ve been through it yourself?

Everybody’s different. I believe that if you need a day to lie in bed all day, do that, but don’t let it consume you. Talk about it. Keep the person alive. Tell stories and honor the person. We go out every year on my dad’s birthday, and we celebrate his birthday. On Father’s Day, I had the idea of doing balloons. We all wrote a message to any father that we were grieving. We also wrote, “Happy Father’s Day, Dad.” We did it for Mother’s Day for my mother-in-law. Continue that because a lot of people stop talking about the person once they pass away. They think it’s too hard. I like to keep their memories alive. That’s huge. There are grief groups all over. When my dad died, it was during COVID. Nothing was around.

If you need a day to lay in bed all day, do that. But don't let it consume you. Share on X

It must have been so hard.

I read a lot of books. What helped me was the signs, the communication, and getting healing. One big thing I would like to tell people is that it’s very important to talk about death prior, when you’re not sick. Even at my age, at 57, my husband and I, a couple of years ago, got our POAs and all that stuff. We wrote down what we wanted. If you wait until they’re sick, some people shut down. Not everybody is open about talking about this stuff.

There are some funny things out there to give somebody. I gave my mom something. This is a while back. It said, “I’m dead. Now what?” It was a book that you write on. I was trying to make light of a tough situation. I’m like, “You’ll come back and haunt me, Mom, if I have the wrong flowers or something.”

Nobody wants to talk about it, but it’s real life. Nobody wants to talk about what to say and what not to say to somebody when they’re grieving. If somebody dies of cancer and someone’s like, “Did they smoke like that?” Does that matter? I know people don’t know what to say, but the best thing to do is say, “I’m here. I’m going to sit right next to you. You tell me what you need.”

It’s like, “I’m sorry for the pain you’re feeling. What can I do to help you?”

It’s not like, “Let me know if you need anything.”

Inner Healing is Essential: Shadow Work and Past Life Regression

Also, give judgment, like, “Did he smoke?” There’s a judgment along with the death and all of that kind of thing. I also want to ask you. You also healed yourself through inner work, like shadow healing and all of that, which resolved trauma and behaviors that seemed out of character. Do you want to tell us about your personal healing work?

I love that you say a person needs to do his or her own inner healing before they can help to heal others. I believe in that, too. The way I liken it is, we have all these backpacks filled with trauma and grief. If you heal, you start to drop that backpack. I love letting people know about different modalities that can help them, so tell us about what you did that helped you.

Other than Reiki and other forms of energy healing, I did some shadow work. Have you heard of the Sway method, where you’re standing? She had me close my eyes, and she would say statements like, “I am loved,” or whatever. You would go forward for yes or backwards for no. She started asking me all these questions. You’re aware, but you’re like, “Why am I saying yes to this? I thought I got over that.”

You cannot heal others until you get over all of your internal buried traumas. Share on X

My burn kept coming up, and I was like, “I got over my burn. That was in 1991.” There was a lot of trauma from surgeries. It was a lot. I ended up breaking my hip 10 years ago because of that burn, because I don’t have feeling in certain parts of that leg. I was holding on to anger and frustration, but a lot of good came out of that.

Compassion.

I did a past life regression. You’ll like this because in this past life regression, my father was my father five times in my past life, which is rare, apparently. They were stoning my father to death. I went to save him, and somebody burned me with a torch on my right leg.

Is it your right leg that was hurt again?

Yes. This was in the 1700s. I learned to heal myself back then. This is all through hypnosis. You’re aware you’re saying this. I couldn’t believe it, but it all made sense. When you own that, you almost stop the pattern from happening down your family lineage. I couldn’t heal others until I got over all of my internal buried trash.

Did you feel that your internal buried traumas stood in the way of your being able to fully receive from someone else?

Grief and Rebirth - Irene Weinberg | Tami Pitetti Sanders | Mediumship

Absolutely.

As you’ve been healing, it makes you even more effective because you’re not weighed down. Why do you say it’s important to put ourselves first and heal from the inside out? How does doing that make our lives change for the better?

I always thought putting yourself first was selfish, but now, I feel it’s necessary. I need to be in a good place physically, emotionally, and spiritually to be able to give back to other people. Start your day off with meditation. I walk in nature on a daily basis or as much as I can, depending on the weather here in Philadelphia. Doing those things to make you a better person ultimately makes you a better wife, a better mom, a better friend, and a better daughter. I’m trying to do that. We all have our good days and bad days. I get very overwhelmed easily in crowds.

That’s because you’re so sensitive. Were you overwhelmed in crowds before you were conscious of the fact that you were desensitized?

I didn’t think I was. A little bit at times, but I didn’t know what the heck was happening. I was like, “Why am I like this?” I envision a bubble around me and protection, or I have clearing sprays that I spray all over because spirits attract to me very easily. I don’t even go to the grocery store anymore. I’m sure I can, but I do Instacart.

I can relate to it because I can walk into a place, too, because I’m more sensitive. I can perceive people’s stories, their headspace, or what’s going on. It’s an intuitive thing. If you’re a compassionate person, it weighs you down.

You take it on. I pick and choose. I’m working, and I feel like that’s a fault. I have to try to motivate myself sometimes to go out because I could get easily drained or fatigued. I have to limit how many readings I can do in one day because that takes a lot of energy from me. Each day, I’m still learning.

Anchoring in Gratitude and Presence: Her Joy Tip

You’re still learning, but you’re also loving yourself. Self-love is important. You’re taking good care of yourself. I’m glad to see that and hear that. Why do you feel we should anchor ourselves in gratitude and presence? Why do you say that joy grows when it’s acknowledged? What is the Tami tip for finding joy in life?

I said this before. Joy grows even more when it’s acknowledged. Giving to others always makes me feel better. Sharing your gifts, sharing what you do best, and helping others, for me, always brings me joy.

Do you feel that a lot of people don’t live in their present moments, and they aren’t grateful for what goes on in their lives? Do you think that stands in the way of their progress?

I think it does. We all have to remember if we’re having a bad day, like, “This is good. That’s good.” You know, you have to remind yourself of what good you do have. Hone in on that and honor that because life is short, as we know. I feel we all have our soul’s journey and a plan already scheduled out for us.

That’s so true. People are reading this, and they might say, “I’ve got some good photographs I’d like this lady to take a look at.” How do they get onto your website?

I have an Instagram page. It’s called @DivineLensReadings. People can contact me through that. They send me a photo, and I’ll ask them, “Is there anything you want to know? Is there anything you don’t want to know?” I then tell them how long it will take me to do it for them. I handwrite in my own writing, but sometimes, my writing changes. Somebody told me this. I don’t even realize it. It could be the way the person who passed used to write. I found that interesting.

I can personally attest to that. Your readings are terrific and right on. That’s great.

Thank you.

You’re so welcome. I want to thank you for sharing your story, your many gifts, and your heart, which I see is a beautiful heart, with us on the show. From my heart, I want to wish you much joy and many blessings.

Thank you so much. Same to you.

Thank you. This has been wonderful. To my cherished fans, stay tuned. We will see you again. Tami, to be continued. Thank you so much.

Thank you.

About Tami Pitetti Sanders

Grief and Rebirth - Irene Weinberg | Tami Pitetti Sanders | MediumshipMy deeply personal journey began through profound, unexpected grief and transformation. After the sudden loss of our young family dog, followed by my beloved dad shortly after, I found myself navigating a world that had completely shifted. As I moved through the rawness of grief, I began awakening to spiritual gifts I never expected-ones that both comforted and challenged me.

In the midst of emotional upheaval, I also faced the painful loss of relationships that could no longer hold space for the woman I was becoming.

I speak with honesty and heart about how loss cracked me open and led me to a path of intuitive awareness, deeper connection with Spirit, and ultimate healing.
