The Moment Her Trauma Lifted and Her Body Healed Itself
I hope this message finds each of you so very well. I’m speaking to you from my studio in West Orange, New Jersey, and I could not be more delighted to have the pleasure of welcoming Inna Segal from Brisbane, Australia. Ina’s life’s work has touched millions, and her personal journey has transformed the way we understand healing, consciousness, and the wisdom of the body.
She is a pioneer in the field of energy medicine and human consciousness and the internationally bestselling author of The Secret Language of Your Body, a book that has sold over a million copies and been translated into more than 26 languages. Her work has opened a new doorway for people around the world to explore the profound connection between emotions, life experiences, and physical well-being.
Inna spent her early years struggling with chronic pain, debilitating skin conditions, and deep emotional turmoil. At just twenty years old, during a moment of desperation, she placed her hands on her aching back, took a deep breath, and asked the Divine for help. What followed was a life-altering experience, and visions of childhood trauma, ancestral pain, and emotional memories rose to the surface.
Within moments, her psoriasis disappeared, her back pain eased, and her anxiety began to dissolve. This was the beginning of a profound awakening. Inna’s journey deepened after the tragic stillbirth of her child. Also shattered her world, but also revealed an extraordinary ability to heal herself. From that turning point, Inna has dedicated her life to helping others transform their pain into freedom.
For more than 25 years, she has worked with people from every walk of life, doctors, psychologists, trauma survivors, business leaders, and creatives, guiding them to uncover the true roots of suffering and reconnect with the innate intelligence of their bodies and souls. Inna’s approach is both intuitive and grounded.
She explores the subtle bodies, the etheric, emotional, and astral layers that hold our memories and patterns, and teaches how unresolved emotions, trauma, and even ancestral experiences can manifest physically. Her message is clear. The body doesn’t lie. Every part of us, from our bones to our brain, carries a story, and when we learn to listen, we unlock the potential for deep healing and transformation.
I’m looking forward to talking with Inna about navigating profound loss, understanding life after death, and healing from the pain of broken relationships, including the complex journey of recovering from narcissistic abuse. We’ll talk about the courage it takes not only to heal, but to take action, to leave toxic environments, to break old patterns, and to choose a life aligned with truth and inner freedom. This will surely be a powerful, heartfelt, and illuminating conversation with a woman whose work continues to change lives around the world.

Inna, a long introduction, but there’s so much to you. Welcome to the show.
Irene, thank you for having me.
Inna’s Journey Into Intuitive Healing
It’s a pleasure. You’re doing such wonderful work in the world. I’m looking forward to sharing you with everyone. Let’s begin from the beginning. Your journey into intuitive healing began after years of illness and the tragic stillbirth of your child. I’m so sorry, which led to your profound ability to heal yourself. How’d you navigate your profound loss, move through grief, and learn to heal yourself? That’s amazing.
I feel like the loss really opened the door for me to want to know more. One of the experiences that I had, and it was probably one of the first very clear spiritual experiences was not long maybe within, I don’t know, an hour or so of the stillbirth. I asked everyone to leave the room except my husband at the time, and I was just staring at the ceiling. I was in shock.
I was considering that something must be really wrong with me because this doesn’t happen in Australia. I had just turned twenty, so they told me that I had it on my birthday. I just turned 22 days ago. They said it was about two days before. As I was staring at the ceiling and thinking, clearly, there is something wrong with me. All of a sudden, a being appeared. It was an angel, a feminine one.
What did she look like, Inna?
All in white. It was very light and, I guess, a soft sense of color and just gentleness. She looked, like I said, female. She just had the most gentle look on her face. She said to me, “Do not worry, you will have two children soon.” She showed me a boy and a girl who looked like very angelic, and I felt like she was sending me this healing, strengthening energy, and I felt peaceful for about three hours after that.
I remember talking, going to the bathroom, and saying to my husband at the time, “I don’t know why this happened, but I’m going to use this experience to help others. I’m going to find out, and I’m going to explore it.” That was really strengthening and helpful. I have to say that once the peaceful feeling wore off, I did go into this sense of, “I do not want to be here, I want to experience death.” I was obsessed with it. It was like, “I need to experience death.” I got pretty depressed, my body started to, as you mentioned, I had psoriasis, I had anxiety, I had really bad back pain, I had digestive issues. All of those things became way worse.
The stress of the heartbreak.
Just not knowing how to navigate it, because in lots of ways I wasn’t prepared, although I’m going to say, I had a very strong intuitive feeling three weeks before I gave birth. I spoke to the midwife about it, and she just said, “You’re just being anxious. You’re stressed, everything’s fine.” I just had this strong feeling that something was wrong with the baby’s heart, which is what actually happened. That’s what I found out later.
Did you know you were that intuitive before all of this happened?
I didn’t actually. To me, it was one of those things that was more normal. When I was younger, I’d get different insights. I’d get feelings or knowings, or sometimes I would play this game with the universe where I’d go, “Show me a heart for a yes,” or “Show me square for a no or something like that.” I really never thought about it that I have these abilities in any way or form. It was just like sometimes this happens to me.
As you were sharing about my story, I ended up being in so much pain. I was seeing this chiropractor. I’d seen him for a long time, but by that stage, we knew each other, and I was seeing him three times a week. One day, I just woke up, and it was hard to be inside my body. I was so depressed. I didn’t want to be here and so on. As I said, I had this obsession about, “I want to die. I want to experience what that looks like, what that feels like.”
I felt like he knew he needed to shake me up. He needed to do something. When I got to his office, he came out, and he basically said, “Your body’s stuck.” I said, “I know that part. What are you gonna do to help me?” He thought about it for a moment, and he said, “Nothing, your body wants to be stuck. Go home.” This is where everything changed for me because on the way home, I felt like I shifted her in from this space of I’m the victim, and yes, I saw the angel, but it hasn’t happened.
I don’t know, maybe I made it up. “Why did this happen to me? Why am I in so much pain, and I’m only twenty, and what have I done, and what’s wrong with me?” All of these victim-like perceptions that I had into, “My body’s speaking to me. What is this darkness really about?” I want to know, and I’m going to go home and heal myself. This is where again, you were sharing, and I placed my hands on my back.
I was counting backwards from 30. I still do not fully know if there was something divine because I didn’t have confirmation that I had children at that time. I just said, “If there is something divine out there that can help me now, then please help me.” I just felt this warmth move through my body. For whatever reason, it also occurred to me to ask if I could see my back, if I could see my spine. I had no expectations when I did that. When I asked, “I could see it.” It was literally like having extra vision.
It just came right into your third eye?
It literally felt like my third eye opened up. I asked that question, “Why do I have this?” This is where the vision started to come. I was born in Eastern Europe, so I came to Australia, and I did not know one word of English. I was bullied for it, and that was very connected to when my psoriasis occurred. It became very clear to me that my back pain was all connected to finances and issues around that, and stress and conflict in relationships around my parents, because they really struggled financially, and lower back pain is all about that.
I absorbed that. They were just constantly at each other because when I was really young, they just did not know how to communicate well in this new environment that they were in, and how to navigate their own lives. I felt all of this and more and then I became aware of my grandparents who, in particular my grandmother who had gone through, she was one of eight children and she had gone through enormous losses in her life.
Her mother was actually a clairvoyant, and her mother told her when she was about twelve that she was the only one who was going to survive the war out of her and all the children. She essentially stood there being shot at while my grandmother ran to save her own life when my grandmother was thirteen. A lot was going on.
Where was your family from? Was it Eastern Europe or Western Europe?
From Belarus, from Eastern Europe. I could see how the loss that my grandmother experienced and the loss that I experienced of my child has exploded my digestive system to a point where anything I would eat, I would become hot, I would become unwell, and I could not digest my food. It is just really hard to be inside my body. In all of these insights, I fell asleep, and when I woke up, about 70% of the back pain was gone. I just want to clarify.
It was the back pain. I still had psoriasis everywhere, but the back pain was gone, and I still had about 30%. I was still not out of the woods. It occurred to me that I really needed to continue, and I needed to keep taking responsibility. That was the difference. I needed to keep asking questions. I needed to figure out this relationship with my body. I was studying professional writing and editing. To me, writing was the way that I understood things.
I started journaling non-stop. As I journaled, lots of things connected. I was asking questions also from my family, as well as from myself and my body. By the time the three weeks had passed, that is when there was no more psoriasis. It kept disappearing and never came back. My dad still has psoriasis. My twin sister is covered with psoriasis. My grandfather had psoriasis.
Everyone said, “It is genetic. You are going to have it for life.” I have not. My back pain disappeared. Never had a back issue again. My anxiety went right down, so I could live like a normal person. I stopped being obsessed with death in the way that I was, and the depression lifted. The digestive system took a long time, I am going to say.
Tell me if you disagree with me, but the impression I am getting is that your family went through such a hard time, and there was so much stress, and in a way, you were carrying that for them. I think that when you willed yourself that you will get well, somehow you will survive. You let go of those stories within yourselves. Would you say that is an accurate portrayal of that?
There was a transformation of the stories, and there was a transformation of my own perception of what I went through, and moving out of the victim perspective into “How does this strengthen me? How can this serve me to help others?”
How To Navigate Grief, Death, And Loss
That is beautiful. You were so young to come to that conclusion so early. It was like you were in a way scripting yourself that one way or the other, I am going to heal and get better. Now look at how you are helping so many people. Let us talk about that because you have written bestselling books, and one is called The Secret of Life Wellness. You offer a very moving chapter on navigating grief, death, and loss, which you have done. What wisdom can you share with us about releasing that fear of death, and anything else you would like to tell us about your wonderful book? Please do.
One of the biggest things that we have to look at is from the perspective of how old the person is, to how you are looking at it, and from what perspective you are looking at it. When it came to having a child that died, for me, I needed to know that there was more. That was the biggest thing I needed to understand. What is the soul or spirit world? I read a lot about it. I learned a lot about it. Actually educating yourself and learning is such a huge step.
I also had to get to a place where this is not my fault, that this happened. There is some reason for it that I need to find out, and maybe it is opening doors for me that would never be opened, and I would never be interested in. There was a lot of educating myself that happened around that. I learned to meditate, I learned to pray, and I learned to forgive myself more than anyone. There was a lot of Grief in a sense with God, like, “What have I done wrong? Why am I being punished?” I had to learn to see it not as a punishment.
Did you see it as a lesson instead of a punishment?
I saw it as an agreement, eventually, that there was an agreement rather than just a lesson that somehow the soul and I had an agreement. I also saw it as the more I learned about it, the more I sensed that what I understood in this particular scenario through my research was that the soul was likely to come back either to me or somebody around me because the soul was going to be strengthened.
There was an experience, obviously, that I needed to have as an agreement with my husband, but also that when the soul comes back, he is going to have so much more strength to have a very different type of life. That really helped to understand in terms of the loss and the grief, and also just allowing myself to grieve. I also had an experience, and I wrote about it in my book, where one day I was getting ready for my husband, and I was going to Sydney. I had lived in Melbourne before.
As we were getting ready, all of a sudden I saw this man, and I had never met him, but I just had a knowing that it was my husband’s grandfather. He was very kind, and I saw that he was holding the baby. He said to me, “It is okay, I am going to take care of him.” This is after I already had my healing experience. When we got to Sydney, someone introduced us to a medium. We went to see this medium, and the first thing the medium said was, “There is an older man who is your grandfather.”
I said, “Is he holding anything?” He said, “He has a rose.” It was really interesting because his wife’s name was Rose, and it was Paul’s grandmother. Within a moment, he started getting teary-eyed. He said, “He has a baby that he is holding.” He said the same words to me. He says, “He is going to take care of the baby, and it is okay.” That was extremely helpful in that journey. I also want to say to people that the sense of fear of loss took so long to work through, and it is okay.
It is okay for the sense of fear of loss to take so long to work through. Share on X
It is really okay for people because it showed up for me in very close friendships with certain people, where I felt like I met people in my soul group. It was this sense of, “I have been waiting and looking for this person for so long, and now I cannot live without them because the loss that I have experienced before was so painful. I need that person to be there.” One of my best friends lives in Europe, actually in France.
He had to endure that a lot for the first years of us meeting, where I knew he was like one of my soul families. By that stage, I was 26, 27, and he just held so much space for me to heal. I say that because sometimes we go into numbness, sometimes we go into all sorts of experiences, and we think we are fine, because I thought I was completely fine by that stage.
There were six years had passed, but when my heart had to be opened up again to somebody who was touching me on a soul level, the fear of loss was huge. Again, it is important to understand in a relationship. When I was an older person, like my grandmother, I loved my grandmother, and I had so much fear. Five years before my grandmother died, I was already having panic attacks about her dying. When she died, it was the most beautiful experience, and we can maybe share it later.
If you want to share now, go ahead.
Before she died, my grandmother, I had actually been overseas, and I got a very clear message that she was dying and that she was not well.
It just came into your head? Was it just a knowing or an actual message?
No, actually, I ended up doing a process with some people to do with ancestral healing. During the process, it became clear that she was dying, basically. I called my mom, and my mom said, “Yes, we were not going to tell you until you came back.” When I came back, essentially, she did not have long to live, and my husband at the time said, “Please do not try to heal her physically.” I realized that he was right, and I just wanted to connect with her and make sure that she felt loved.
I wanted to help her with emotional healing because I knew physical healing was not going to happen. I knew how much she had suppressed. I spent a lot of time with her. I felt like time slowed down, and I just kept connecting with her and asking her questions. Two days before she died, I was at her house, and I could see her soul coming in and out.
At one point, not consciously, but her soul said to me, “I really want you to be there when I am crossing over.” I said, “I agree. I am definitely going to be there.” She kept coming in and out. I remember we went into the kitchen, and all of a sudden I saw her mother standing behind her on the left. I said, “I see your mom, she is here.” I had seen her mom before, but I had never seen her father.
Immediately, her father was standing behind the right side. There was just this sense of family and peace. I was like, “That’s amazing.” I was saying this to her while she was still conscious. The next day, she went into a coma. We all went to the hospital, and I was communicating with her and just trying to guide her through what was going to happen, and that it was okay for her to let go because I knew it was going to be really difficult. After all, she was a fighter. She fought for life.
She fought all her life for life because of all the things she went through.
It was taking a really long time because she was having a difficult time letting go. At one point, I saw her mom and her dad and all the children, all her brothers and sisters, waiting for her. I was again sharing with her, and I was like, “Look, they are here, they love you, it is okay, it is going to be fine.” Anyway, then it kept going. It was the middle of the night by that stage, and my mom said, “You need to go for a few hours and rest and come back.”
It was my cousin and me. We did not really sleep, but we tried to rest for a few hours. I knew she would not pass until I came back. When I came back by that stage, she was really struggling with her breathing. When you are around somebody about to pass over, and you have not slept for days, your nervous system is affected. I found it really hard to be in the room with the noises she was making.
I said to my cousin, “Let us go downstairs because I just need to calm down because this is really affecting me.” She said to me again, “You promised to be there.” I said, “Do you think that her soul will not tell me? I do not need to be in the room for her to be there. She is going to tell me.” We went downstairs, and I was communicating with her. I said to her that, because she had so much morphine by that stage, she was confused.
How old was she, Inna?
I think she was about 81. I said to her, “Why are you holding on? Are you waiting for my grandfather to come?” She nodded, and she said, “Yes.” I said, “No, I am sorry, he cannot come. If he sees you, he will have a heart attack.” My grandfather started getting the early stages of dementia at that time, and he just would not be able to handle it. I said to her, “We really love you, and it is time to let go.” She said my name in a very sweet way, the way that she would speak to me.
She said, “Inna Chica, I am going to go.” I said to my cousin, “Run.” My brother came out of the elevator and said the same thing at the same time. Ran through the hospital to her room. When we got there, the nurse was there, and she said, “That is so great you just came. She is about to take her last three breaths.” We prayed, and we sent love. It was just so beautiful. We saw when her soul left, and the body just became the bag.
You seemed to see a soul leave. Was it like a mist or a cloud? What does that look like? Does it come from the top of her head?
It came from the top of her head, and it was very beautiful and pure and white. There was just this sense of peace and a sense of love. Rather than trauma, as I had experienced with the child that I lost, it was just this sense of calm and peace and love and connection. Because I saw the whole experience and I was part of it, and then my mom felt her presence during the funeral. My mom lost an earring, and she felt like my grandmother was pulling at the earring. Because I was really there, I felt like I had done everything, and there was a completion, and that our connection was not lost.
My mom had a very different experience because she was so traumatized by my grandmother’s death, she did not come and see her at the time when I kept saying to go. She had a lot of guilt that she had to move through, whereas I did not. One of the biggest things that helped me was also that I realized it was my book, The Secret Language of Your Body came out in the US. I had to go on tour the next month.
In my mind, I was going, “What I need is my grandmother to show me other people who will support me the way that she would have.” I wrote down all the qualities that my grandmother had that I loved. I started looking for those qualities in every person that I met who was helpful. There was plenty. I just kept feeling like she was there, really supportive of me throughout that whole journey and many years after.
Two Different Ways Of Approaching Trauma
What is amazing to me is how proactive you were. You’re helping so many people to heal. Before you had some Inna in your life, you were self-generating, you were researching yourself, you were doing this, and unlike your mother, who dwelt in the negative, you kept striving towards the positive, towards the healing side of it. That in itself is amazing. It is very special. I want to ask you, because you talk about the subtle body.
Let us explain to people what that means. The etheric, the emotional, the astral layers that hold our memories and patterns. Here, your mom had those bodies, and she was depressed and upset by them, but you were able to deal with any unresolved emotions, trauma, and ancestral experiences to move through them. Can you explain to everyone what the difference is between those two different ways of approaching trauma and things that are happening to people?
The etheric body is actually the body connected with our ancestors. It is a body of memory. It is the reason we look the way that we do. It is the body of vitality, how much energy you have. It is also the body to do with patterns. It is also the reflection of the physical body. All the organs of the physical body are the same in the etheric body.
The etheric body is the one connected with our ancestors. It is the body of memory, vitality, energy, and patterns. It is also the reflection of the physical body. Share on X
I feel like with my mom, in terms of patterns, she was constantly holding on to worry, stress, anxiety, and living like that because essentially she was born not long after the war, and her relationship with her mother in particular was very different from mine. My mom grew up with my grandmother, who was so numb and in shock when my mom was born. She did not really know how to give her that warmth and love.
Whereas the difference for me was that my mom prioritized me because she was not prioritized, so I always felt like I was number one in her reality. That gave me a completely different sense of how I was looked after and loved. I feel like I was also much closer to my grandmother than my mom was in that sense, because I did not have that trauma. That trauma again was held in my mom’s etheric body. I did not have that. For me, it was a lot easier in that sense.
When I was 22, I had this incredible experience. It was the first time that I saw people just as souls. My grandparents were having their 50th wedding anniversary. As I was walking up the stairs of this restaurant, I realized that I could only see people’s souls. I just could not see their bodies. When I came up to my grandparents, up until I was 22, I always thought my grandparents were the victims of the most horrific experiences.
My grandfather ended up in Siberia for ten years for something he did not do. This particular day was incredible because all of a sudden, it was like my vision was transformed 360 degrees. Instead of seeing my grandparents as victims of their lives, I saw them as being incredibly courageous. They were my example of what courage is. Again, my mom never had that transformation. I feel like she carried that perception of, “They have gone through so much pain, so much struggle, so much worry.” She was part of that energy that they were carrying, and she was carrying.
Would you say that that is typical of how a lot of people process their trauma and their grief by saying that “I really cannot have joy, I really cannot move on, I have to honor the pain that they went through by not letting go of it myself?” That probably manifests in the body, right? Explain to everyone, for someone who, like you, can let go and move forward, or someone like me, unfortunately, I know some of my own family, similarly to your mom, who cannot let go. Would you say the psoriasis in your family was something from not letting go of all the pain and grief that they had been through and the trauma?
Psoriasis was more of a shock from everything that I learned about each person because they had a trauma around shock, and so did I. That was a different thing, but everybody had digestive issues. My grandfather ended up having cancer. My mom had cancer. My grandmother constantly had problems with her digestive system. I was like, “I have it, but I am going to work on this before it becomes what everyone has here.”
This is not going to be who I am. This is going to be who I was.
I am not going to suppress things. I am going to face everything, and I am going to keep looking for a different perspective and going deeper and exploring things. I have to say, my mom really started to change after her cancer diagnosis. She really started doing deeper work, coming to all my workshops, transforming. She is 69 now, and she is healthier than she was twenty years ago. It is possible to change and turn it around.
Look how you have changed your own mother’s life. It is like you came in as the older soul in a way to help your mother. I had a similar experience in my life where my mother was very wounded in many ways, and I had started my healing, and I was able to help her so that when her time came to cross over, she had a very peaceful crossing over.
How To Take Charge Of Your Healing Journey
I want to ask you, when someone feels overwhelmed by symptoms or emotions like your mother did, but she came to you to have you help her begin to heal, how can someone listening to us identify and know where to begin their healing when they have gone through all this and they go, “I have got these symptoms in my body and I have these things going on. Maybe it is not just a physical thing. Maybe it is coming from what I have experienced.” How do they know where to begin that healing, and then where do they go from that? If they do not have your gift to be able to generate it on your own, how do they identify that?
I feel like there are a few things that need to start. I mentioned the etheric body, and we have an astral body, which is our emotional body and contains our soul and our mental body. Part of the beginning is actually working on those bodies, but it really starts with “Something is not right in my body, and I want to be part of the process.” Unless a person is doing that, I feel like it is very difficult to heal because healing actually means participation.
It also means usually when your body is sick, it is screaming at you and saying, “Slow down. You are running too fast. You are not aware of everything that is going on. You are pushing things away. You need to slow down, and you need to start to breathe. You need to permit yourself to feel. You need to go within yourself.” The other thing I am going to say is that rather than just starting and not knowing anything, I actually encourage people to find either a book, like my book, The Secret Language of Your Body, or The Secret of Life Wellness, and start learning something about it.
There are also a lot of steps in both books that I talk about. You might want to find a practitioner who can start to help you, who does healing work, or you might do all of those things, and you might decide, “I want to do some courses where somebody can actually teach me and guide me.” When you enter a course, I have a lot that I’ve done over the years.
I wanted to have you talk about that.
A lot of people can start immediately online, like a course called Your Secret Language of Your Body Uncovered. This is where I guide people through every little step so that they do not get lost, so that they know what to do. They also have support. We have Facebook groups and so on, but there is that support of “This is what I do first. This is what I do next.” In the course, I talk about how you tune into the body. Firstly, you have to wake the body up. This is how you tune in and communicate. This is how you transform and heal.
This is how you work with emotions. This is how you work with a disease in conjunction with my book. This is how you work on your heart to open up your intuitive capacities, because to become intuitive starts from the heart. It does not actually start from the third eye. It starts with you opening your heart up. There are lots and lots of ways, but I think guidance is really, really important. Once you have made a decision that you are teachable, you want to learn, and you want to participate in your own healing journey.
Six Key Stages Of Healing Journey
That really is part of the secret. Also, when people are healing, are there not key stages that people have and that they need to honor those stages as they are healing, or do they get stuck? Can you explain? Obviously, you did not get stuck.
I did actually. I did get stuck in stages. I am writing a book about this at the moment. We start with this stage of stuckness. Most of us are stuck, we are in pain, we are suffering, and we are struggling, and we want the magic genie to come and fix us. At some point, because there are different parts of each stage as well, at some point in that stage, we may recognize that we will usually run for medication. We will usually go into medicine.
In some ways, we have to go, “My body is saying something. It is suffering for a reason.” We need to acknowledge it. We need to become aware of it. In terms of healing in that stage, the first step is acknowledgement and just going, “I am struggling, I am suffering, I am scared. I do not know if anything is going to change.” When we then start to enter into stage two, we start to go, “Maybe I have taken some medication already, but can somebody else heal me?
We need to acknowledge that the body is suffering for a reason. We must become aware of it. Share on X
I do not know anything. I cannot do it. Somebody else needs to do it for me.” This is where you really need to start, as you move through that stage, you are often very controlling. You want a result. You want everybody to tell you exactly what they are doing, how the result is going to happen. As you are going through it, you are going to need to start to let go a little bit and start to become a bit more open-minded, a bit more teachable, which then moves you into stage three, which is self-responsibility.
Where you go, “What happened to me was not my responsibility necessarily, but healing and taking the time to understand my story, to understand what I am really connecting to, what I am holding onto, that is my responsibility.” This is where we start to connect to some of the wisdom of the body. This is where we might start slowing down. It is stage three when you start slowing down and going, “Maybe I can do something myself.”
As you enter stage four, you start to realize there are parts of me from my life, from my childhood, that might have been stunted. I need to start to understand these parts. I was talking about myself, the victim part, the child part that is holding onto trauma. As we start to unravel and understand that through this archetypal exploration, we go deeper and deeper. As we enter stage five, it is almost like we start to connect and work with these different parts of ourselves and understand them.
Sometimes people call them the shadow, the light parts. They start to come into our inner selves. We go into stage six, and stage six is about preparation for release. This is where things become very clear. Maybe this relationship no longer works, this diet does not work for you, and you need to learn and change something. Maybe you need to move house. It is a stage where we connect to our will. We have to take action to change things, rewire, and start to see pattern after pattern.
By the way, that is a lot of work when you are doing all that work. The problem is that some people get stuck because it just seems insurmountable.
It seems like that, but I say to people, you have a life anyway, and you can just be numb, suppressed, depressed, push everything down, or you can work with it and become alive with it and become expansive and help others, help yourself, become an inspiration to other people. If you do not work on yourself, you lose energy and become exhausted. Life still goes on, but it is through pain and struggle. If you do explore and work on things, life becomes full of opportunities, vitality, incredible experiences, and connections.
How To Heal From The Pain Of Narcissistic Abuse
I could not agree more. We are talking about trauma, and I want to talk to you about broken relationships. I know that you talk a lot about narcissistic abuse. You did this interview for the Belfast Telegraph. You spoke about the nature of narcissists and the impact they have on others. I do not think a person is tuning in who has not had to deal with a narcissist in their life. What would you like to teach us about that? How can people heal from the pain of those broken relationships and recover from such a complicated journey to recover from narcissistic abuse?
There is so much around narcissistic abuse because it is a different type of abuse. Most of us, especially when we get into a relationship with somebody like that, think it is our soulmate. We actually believe this is my twin soul, my soulmate. These people mirror you so much, and they essentially reflect your pain.
If you had pain in your childhood around a relationship with your mother, let us say, and all of us to some degree have had pain with mother-father, but in particular, you did not feel like you were loved and held in the way that you needed to and wanted to and wished. They hold you like that at the beginning. It is almost like they become both your mother and your child. What happens when there is a loss, and they start attacking you, and they start putting you down, is that you actually feel like you are dying because you feel like you are losing your mother’s best friend, that love that you had.
Also, they train your brain. Your brain starts working completely differently. You also feel like you are losing your child in a way, because they will often be mother, parent, child type of experience. It is like all of you are being lost because you were so intertwined with them in every way and form. It feels like dying. It also feels like somebody is inside your head constantly talking to you and telling you, “You are doing this wrong. You should do it this way. You should do it that way.” You feel crazy inside you.
It is crazy making. Being with a person who is a narcissist is absolutely crazy making. I had experienced that.
One of the steps, step one, actually, is you have to separate your voice from their voice. If you do any other type of healing before, you can actually strengthen them. It is like an entity inside of you, it really is. It feeds off you, and you have got to be like, “What is my voice? I need to come back to my voice. I need to come back to who I am. What do I like?”

For me, it was shocking because I remember this happened during COVID, when my friends could not come because of lockdowns. Finally, some of my really close friends were able to come from another state, and they were like, “We need to redecorate your house. What do you like?” I was like, “I do not know.” Actually, I honestly do not know, because you do not.
You have to be conscious at the beginning, when you separate, go, “This is me, and this is them.” They will probably judge me and say this is wrong, but I know what I like. I do not know, I am going to discover it. For me, I went to singing classes in a group. I went to dance classes. It was one of the hardest things that I did because at the beginning, in the first few weeks, I was depressed, obviously, and feeling terrible.
My mom, who also lived in a different city by that stage, was the one calling me and going, “Come on, Inna. You have got to get out, you have got to connect with people.” I was like, “We are in lockdown.” She said, “Call people, connect with them, ask them to come and see you, find courageous people.” She said, “You cannot be like this.”
I said to her, because I had literally just moved to another city, Brisbane, and I hardly knew anyone. I said to her, “How do I do that?” She said, “You have met a few people.” I said, “You want me to call people who admire me for my teaching and tell them that I am in this state?” She said, “Yes, that is it. Get off the bed, stop crying. He is not even worth it. Call these people and get out and just do stuff.”
That is such great advice.
She actually said to me, “If you call me one more time crying without doing those things, I am going to hang up on you.”
It is interesting because in one situation you brought your mother through, and now she was doing the same for you, which means that she had done some healing on her own, also.
She did a huge amount of healing herself, which is beautiful. I said to her, “I am not doing all the ancestral healing on my own. You are coming on this journey.”
Inna’s Special Offering For The Readers
“If I am healing, you are coming too, Mom.” I did the same thing with my family. Do you have a special offering for our audience? Could you also describe all the wonderful ways that people listening to this show can begin their healing journeys with you and your offerings?
The first thing I want to say is to go to my website, it is InnaSegal.com.
We will have that in the show notes.
What I have done over the last few years, and I am going to say that this is limited. This is not going to be there for a long period of time. I recorded master classes, which are essentially like a mini workshop. Some of them are two hours long. Some of them are four hours long. Some of them are for people who are beginning their journey. I was talking about my course on the secret language of your body and starting.
There is a two-hour masterclass that people can do, and they can just go to InnaSegal.com/Secret, and they can do that masterclass for free. At this point, I do not know if that is going to be the same in some period of time, so you have to go and have a look. I also have a master class for people who want to go a lot deeper into the healing journey and understand emotions and energy bodies and archetypes and how they all intertwine, and also the different stages of healing in a different way.
Again, I have a masterclass for Awaken the Healer Within, which is connected to a ten-day program that I do for those who really want to dive into it. This Masterclass has several processes for both connecting to your intuition and working through emotional trauma. It is really easy to find. Again, you just go to InnaSegal.com/Masterclass. It’s very easy.
How Healing Can Deepen Our Souls
We will leave all the links for everyone to access. Inna, how would you advise people when it comes to healing? How does healing allow us to deepen our souls and truly learn? If you could leave our audience with one truth about healing and the importance of healing, what would that be?
I feel like we come with a soul with an intention here. Every soul has some journey and an intention. The idea of healing and transformation is to deepen your soul. You deepen your soul by understanding your destiny, so to speak, and also understanding my karma in a way, which is “What is it that I am here to transform and work on?” Which keeps coming up over and over again, especially in relationships with people.
My experience with my ex-husband, who was an anaesthetist, made me transform on every level once we broke up. While we were together, there was a huge learning experience and a very calming experience that we both knew we were going through. Healing is not only about physical pain, even though that is the starting point, but it is also about enriching your soul. Your soul essentially becomes deeper and more colorful, more alive, more capable of expansion and spiritual truth, and holding deeper understandings.
Understanding what the spiritual truths are? What is spirituality? I wrote a book on this, Understanding Modern Spirituality. How do we go on this journey of knowing who I am as a soul and a spirit? What kind of questions do I need to ask? Where do I need to look for it? Healing takes all of this into consideration. My journey as a mom. I did have two beautiful children, whom the angel told me.
My journey as a partner, as a daughter, as a son, everything is about wisdom. To me, essentially, the journey of the soul and healing is connecting to the deepest wisdom within yourself. That is what is beautiful about getting older. We focus on “I want to stay young.” As you get older, you become enriched with wisdom and understanding, and your spirit, so to speak.

I agree with you. I think that when you do heal, you live a life that is more fulfilled. You can experience so much more about life, and your soul deepens, you evolve, you live more consciously.
Without a doubt. I have had this conversation with my daughter so many times, and she will say to me, “Mom, are you happy?” Sometimes I will be like, “I am really happy,” or sometimes it will be like, “I am fulfilled.” She will go, “What does it mean?” I will say, “I am not happy every minute of my day. Sometimes, I am struggling through something, or there is a challenge that comes with whatever it is.
Life is constantly bringing some kind of challenge for you.” I said to her, “I am deeply fulfilled at all times because I am fully following my life’s purpose. I do not skip steps when it comes to healing. I look at and face everything. I do not think that I need to be perfect. I understand that my body is giving me messages, and sometimes I push too hard, I work too much.”
My body is going, “No, you are going to slow down.” It is a reminder. After all, my way is just to go for it and live every moment to the fullest because at the time of my passing, I want the question that I want to ask myself is, “Did you do everything you could? Did you take every moment? Did you live to the fullest? Was there anything you missed?” The answer needs to be that I lived to the fullest in every way.
If this show could contribute to that, I truly from my heart wish that for you. What do you tell people about joy when they are healing, and they are feeling so upset and depressed, and they feel they can never experience joy again? I know you do not agree with that.
One of the things that I did to help myself, especially when I split up with my ex-husband, and it felt probably equivalent to losing a child at the time, because I did not really know what narcissism was. It was hard to imagine joy after that. The thing that I started doing was I started writing love letters to my heart. Each day, I would sit there, and I would acknowledge the raw pain of my heart. I would often apologize to my heart for not listening to it.
I would make a commitment to my heart to go on a journey of healing so that eventually we could get to joy, and we could get to bringing that back to myself. I then created, years later, a card deck around this so people could work when they are in grief, and could work with all the different parts of their heart to come back to joy. They are called Heart Healing Oracle cards. There was one other thing that I did because I felt at one point that I lost my capacity to know what it looked like.
I started looking for genuinely joyful people. I would go, “Can I hang out with you? Can I spend some time with you?” I would watch them. There was one particular man with whom we were just friends, and he just had this childlike joyfulness that was coming out of him. I remember saying to him, “Can I come and hang out with you for a few days?” He lived quite a while away from me. I was watching him the whole time through these three days. We talked a lot about different things, how I was seeing things, and how he thought that I could see things at that time.
I remember driving back home and going, “I now have a prototype of what that feels like, also around what aligns with me now, and I can start to awaken this.” What was really interesting was that when I met my current partner, he was like one of the funniest people that I have ever met. Comedy comes out of him constantly. It was so interesting because I was working this really hard by the time I met him, and he said to me, “What I love about you is that you just love my jokes, and you are so bubbly and you are so fun to be with.” It definitely was not like that ten months before.
Discussion Wrap-up And Closing Words
I love that you love to laugh. Laughter is very healing. Just because our hearts are broken does not mean we cannot find the joy and the laughter in something else in our lives. Inna, in closing, you are such a blessing to people. Your guidance helps people uncover the true roots of their suffering and connect with the innate intelligence of their bodies and souls. You have so much wisdom that reminds us that healing is not a final destination, but a living, breathing journey.

One that calls for honesty, courage, and a willingness to listen to the quiet truths within us. It is a marvelous lesson that you teach people. From my heart to yours, I truly wish you abundant blessings as you continue to guide, inspire, and transform the way we understand healing, consciousness, and the wisdom of the body. I really wish you well, and as I like to say, to be continued.
